June Member of the Month Spotlight – Pam Bird
I am so excited to announce that the June Member of the Month is Pam Bird!
Pam has been with Forever Fit SCV for 2 years now and her progress has been so amazing! When Pam first came to us, she could barely squat, now she’s dropping down lower than most people half her age and doing it while holding a 40 pound sandbag! I still remember the day she came in and told me she was able to squat down to rearrange things under her desk, something she had never been able to do before!
Pam is a thinker, which means she strictly analyzes every movement she does at the gym. She is able to focus on what she’s doing to ensure she’s moving efficiently and safely and she takes guidance very well. She is truly a coach’s dream!
Mimi, as her grandkids call her, is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. She is kind, yet firm and always tells it like it is in the nicest possible way. She has a way of sincerely building up everyone around her which has made her a favorite among the Forever Fit SCV Family. She’s even brought in her husband Dave (who’s legally blind) to train with us and held his hand the whole time, cheered him on and helped him start living a healthier lifestyle. If saints really live on earth, them Pam’s one of them!
We are so proud of what Pam continues to accomplish and are so happy to be on this journey with her. We were able to able to catch up with her to find out how and why she’s been so successful and here’s what she had to say:
Craig: When did you start training at Forever Fit SCV?
Pam: My daughter invited me to one of the Saturday Bring A Friend classes. Though I did walk on the treadmill, I did not do any strength building. I was really surprised at how weak I had become!
Craig: What has made you so successful at Forever Fit SCV?
Pam: My trainer Craig has successfully pushed me to try. My husband encouraged me to continue trying though I was sore. My daughter and son encouraged me because they believe I can do it! My classmates encourage me to continue. I just can’t lose with this type of support!
Craig: What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome during your fitness transformation?
Pam: Honestly, I hate to admit this, but it is me! My self doubt, which hinders me every day. I have to keep pushing to keep going each time I think I can’t go on….I push to keep going because I am so much better off physically and mentally. I’d never want to disappoint my family.
Craig: What advice would you offer to others who are just starting out on their fitness journey or have hit a road-block?
Pam: DON’T STOP! It is too easy to do….keep pushing to better health and a longer, more meaningful life.
Craig: What drives you to ‘KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES’?
Pam: It is simply this: 4 boys and 1 girl that call me Mimi!
1 boy and 1 girl that call me Mom as well as 1 boy and 1 girl that mall me mother-in-law.
1 man that calls me his wife (who is my best friend and cheerleader).
Each one of them are the lifeblood that drives me to keep trying to make meaningful changes that will help me stay healthier for a longer time. Believe me, I know there is much work I need to do. Then, not lastly, but additionally, Craig, who carefully, honestly and firmly reminds me and pushes me to keep moving toward better changes!
KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES Pam!!!
