December Member of the Month Spotlight – Jennifer Morrison
I am so excited to announce that the December Member of the Month is Jennifer Morrison!
Jennifer has been with Forever Fit SCV for over 2 years now and is stronger now than she’s ever been!
Whether she’s giving a one finger ‘high five’ or complaining about the ‘torture’ I’m putting her through, Jennifer always gives her best effort during each and every training session! She loves getting her training in while getting to see her Forever Fit SCV Family and is so supportive of everyone around her. She often does double duty on Saturday mornings by getting in her strength work, then finishing up with some Battle Rope Conditioning. Don’t let her fool you, she is one tough cookie!
Jennifer is also the ONLY Forever Fit SCV Family Member to have a finisher named after her! Now that’s pretty cool!
Even though she’s been traveling a lot more lately, Jennifer really seems to be hitting her stride and I couldn’t be more proud of her. She has 2 beautiful grandchildren that she has to keep up with now, not to mention a fit and active husband, so she has tons of motivation to Keep Makin’ Changes!
I was able to catch up with Jennifer to find out why she’s been so successful and here’s what she had to say:
Craig: When did you start training at Forever Fit SCV?
Jennifer: I started training at Forever Fit SCV because of Aileen and Cindy. We 3 belonged to the Spectrum Club a few years ago. Aileen and I took a few classes there, including spin class and power pump. After an injury or two, we stopped going. Then we tried Curves to jump-start our return to exercise. After a year, they relocated and we were uninspired to follow them. When Cindy and Aileen invited me to join them at Forever Fit SCV, running in Craig’s garage at the time, I was happy to do so. I don’t enjoy exercising, but I know it’s good for me and I love the camaraderie of doing so with friends.
Craig: What has made you so successful at Forever Fit SCV?
Jennifer: I’m not so sure I’d call it ‘success’, but I keep coming back despite all obstacles! I am more fit and able to do more since I’ve been training at Forever Fit SCV
Craig: What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome during your fitness transformation?
Jennifer: My biggest obstacle is travel. Just as I get into a routine, I go out of town. I’m not very good about exercising while I’m away, but I do a lot of walking and carrying of suitcases (weight-lifting). Still, I have to re-psych myself upon each return. Another issue is injury. Early on, I would approach new exercises with gusto, but not always the best form. That would aggravate any existing weaknesses. Now I’m trying to ease back into exercise after vacation breaks
Craig: What advice would you offer to others who are just starting out on their fitness journey or have hit a road-block?
Jennifer: Persevere. Use the social aspect so that if you don’t feel like coming on any given day, you will do so, so as not to disappoint someone else. Tell Craig how you feel and he will help inspire you.
Craig: What drives you to ‘KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES’?
Jennifer: You drive me, Craig. You have made me accept that exercise is necessary. You have helped me work through injuries, personalizing my routine and not letting me avoid all exercise while recovering. You encourage and inspire. You keep switching it up and making it fun even while ‘torturing’ us. (You don’t need to go to any more classes though, you have enough methods at your disposal!) You have hired wonderful, young helpers who try to imitate your methods of encouragement and motivation. Thanks Craig! I can get through my 60’s in better shape than I was in my 50’s!
