June Member of the Month Spotlight – Mara Kavanagh

Mara Kavanagh

I am so excited to announce that the June Member of the Month is Mara Kavanagh!

Mara has been committed to making changes in her life for almost 2 years now and has seen some amazing changes!  During that time, she has trained consistently and worked hard on her nutrition and has EARNED the  awesome body she has today.  You can always see her supporting those around her and sharing her story.

We are so proud of her hard work and drive and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

I was able to catch up with Mara to find out why she has been so successful and here’s what she had to say:

Craig: Why did you start training at Forever Fit SCV?

Mara: I had been feeling frumpy.  I was weighing more than I had ever weighed in my life and had started making changes in my diet. I gave up my daily coke and bagels and was already seeing some weight loss. My daughter, Andre, had been working out at FF and convinced me to join the Back to School Transformation contest in the Fall of 2013.  I hated to exercise back then and hadn’t exercised regularly in years.

Craig: What has made you so successful at Forever Fit SCV?

Mara: My commitment has been my greatest success.  I try not to miss a workout.  I try to schedule other appointments around my workouts.  I make sure I work out at least three times per week.  I try to eat well.  Craig has made me more conscientious about my food choices. The support from Craig and the other FF members has been incredible.  Everyone keeps you motivated to keep going.

Craig: What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome during your fitness transformation?

Mara: Diet and nutrition has been my greatest obstacle.  For the first 50+ years of my life, I could eat anything I wanted.  I was spoiled.  I never had to diet, so having to watch what I eat now has been a challenge.

Craig: What advice would you offer to others who are just starting out on their fitness journey or have hit a road block?

Mara: Perseverance is the key.  You can’t get discouraged.  Allow other members to support you.  Listen to Craig. He’s smart. Stay positive.

Craig: What drives you to ‘KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES’?

Mara: The one thing that keeps driving me is my body fat percentage.  For a petite person, my body fat percentage is too high. I am determined to build muscle and lose fat.  Now my arms have some definition.  Seeing those changes is motivation to Keep Makin’ Changes!

Congratulations Mara!
