I am so excited to announce that the January Member of the Month is Stephanie Dunn!
Stephanie has been with Forever Fit SCV since our Halloween Pumpkin Workout in 2013 and has been kicking butt and taking names ever since!
If you have ever had the pleasure of training with Stephanie, you know that she is very focused, intense and motivated to make changes. She is one of the hardest working ladies I have ever had the pleasure of working with and we are so proud of the progress she has made during her time with us.
I was able to catch up with Stephanie to find out why she has been so successful and here’s what she had to say:
Craig: Why did you start training at Forever Fit SCV?
Stephanie: I had majorly fallen off the exercise wagon in 2013, and was feeling pretty down on myself. I was gaining weight, but could not find the motivation to get back on the right track. Then Lance O’Keefe invited me to Forever Fit’s “Pumpkin” Workout. It was such an amazing workout (I will never look at a pumpkin the same way again!!) and I had so much fun doing it! In just one session I knew this was the right place for me. The energy of the group at Forever Fit was infectious and that was exactly what I needed to jumpstart myself back into a healthy lifestyle.
Craig: What has made you so successful at Forever Fit SCV?
Stephanie: I am very competitive with myself. Every single workout I make an effort to do more than I did the previous day. Whether that is increasing resistance, going up a level on an exercise, or even just doing one or two additional reps, I always want to find a way be better than I was the last time. I don’t really compare myself to anyone around me because we are all different. I know I may not be the strongest or fastest person in the room but that is okay. I want to be the strongest version of myself.
Also I never back away from a challenge. I trust Craig, so if he suggests that I try something new, I at least make an attempt. Even if it scares me! I have really surprised myself with what I can do when I am pushed out of my comfort zone, and that just fuels me to push myself more!!
Craig: What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome during your fitness transformation?
Stephanie: I am definitely a perfectionist, so when I have a bad nutrition day or a sub-par workout I beat myself up over it. Unfortunately that is not the best way to move past a bad day and get back on track. I have to learn to cut myself some slack!
Craig: What advice would you offer to others who are just starting out on their fitness journey or have hit a road block?
Stephanie: First, trust the process. It takes hard work, dedication, and sacrifice but it WORKS, so in the end it will be worth it! A bump in the road doesn’t mean that all is lost. Let go of what you didn’t do yesterday and focus on what you will do today.
Second, don’t be afraid to challenge yourself!! You never know what you can do until you give it a try.
Craig: What drives you to ‘KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES’?
Stephanie: How great I feel every day as well as all of the positive results I have gotten so far are the two things that drive me. I am stronger/faster/thinner/more toned/more flexible/more balanced and most importantly happier and more relaxed than I was when I started a year ago!! I am doing things physically that I never thought I would be able to do and I want to do more. I still have more road to travel before I reach all of my goals, but I know if I keep at it I will get there! In the meantime I am celebrating all of my small victories along the way.
