I am so excited to announce that the May Member of the Month is Bett Huffaker!
Bett has been with Forever Fit SCV since September 2013 and has made some major progress in her time here. She is one of the most dedicated, hard working people I have ever met, not to mention extremely smart, caring and funny. She knows her limitations and works within them while challenging herself to be the BEST she can be.
I was able to catch up with Bett and ask her about her successes during her time here at Forever Fit SCV and her responses, as always, were super insightful and honest!
Craig: Why did you start training at Forever Fit SCV?
Bett: I had gotten fat and stressed and really needed to finally do something about it. I had exercised on my own in the past but ended up straining muscles or getting sick and it always petered out. My friend, Eve Itaya, convinced me to try this. I needed weight loss and I really needed a stress reliever.
Craig: What has made you so successful at Forever Fit SCV?
Bett: I recognize my need to be taught how to exercise properly and safely and I trusted Craig to know his business and he does. I can work alongside younger and fitter people with adaptations for my personal strengths and weaknesses. Since the emphasis is always on personal best, not some arbitrary required number applied universally, I have been able to feel successful even at level one or below. I made the commitment to myself that I would go to class and really put in my effort.
Craig: What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome during your fitness transformation?
Bett: Since I started teaching I have gained weight because of lack of exercise and stress. The weight has in turn damaged my knees and back and trying to strengthen them has been hard. I am still working on that.
Craig: What advice would you offer to others who are just starting out on their fitness journey or have hit a road block?
Bett: Make the decision to put this in your life and commit to it. Don’t make it a daily decision of whether or not you are going to work out. If you give yourself the option every day to blow it off if you are not in the mood, you will find the excuses too easily. This is not a luxury or a selfish indulgence. This is essential to your health now and in the future.
Craig: What drives you to ‘KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES’?
Bett: I can see the results. It is visible in my fitness and body shape, but also in my peace of mind and energy levels. This works for me.
Bett continues to be one of Forever Fit SCV’s most dedicated family members and is always helping others to become the best they can be. Be sure to congratulate Bett on all of her fitness successes….and on her cute little grandkids as well!
KEEP MAKIN’ CHANGES!!!
